General Information

IQ-Insight allows a User to interrogate and set-up an IQ over a PC IrDA- serial or USB IrDA adapter (Win 2000/XP only).

The IQ Insight Kit is available from Rotork and includes the USB IrDA adapter and software, Insight software and virtual com software.

Information regarding the commissioning and setup of an IQ can be recorded for complete site records. Via IQ Insight, the on-board IQ Datalogger provides historical incident data as well as operational data for informed maintenance scheduling.

IQ-Insight is a "browser based" application bringing the familiarity of web controls to the user. IQ-Insight runs under Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4+. and is compatible with Windows 98, 2000, XP and NT4+.

For USB IrDA adapter connection, the USB drivers supplied with the adapted should be loaded by following the installation instructions supplied with them. Once completed, additional free software, IRCOMM2K is required, available free for download at http://www.ircomm2k.de. IrCOMM2k is a driver for Windows 2000 and XP. It emulates a serial port, creating a “virtual” port, which is required by IQ Insight system software. Insight has all the necessary IrDA-serial port drivers inbuilt, requiring no other driver software.

Updates to IQ-Insight are available from the Rotork Web site at www.rotork.com. Rotork recommend that users access the Rotork Web site to get the latest publications, actuator wiring diagrams and contact information

Minimum PC Operating Requirements

It is recommended that when communicating with an IQ actuator, IQ Insight is run in isolation. Running multiple applications alongside IQ Insight may cause communication interrupts. IQ Insight performance will be subject to PC specification.

General IQ-Insight Controls

Controls common to all IQ Insight pages are the IQ main menu icon and the Help icon.
Use the IQ icon to return to the Main Menu page. The Help icon opens page specific help. Help information on page controls, settings and IQ application are indexed for rapid look-up.

Menu Page Controls

User Log In When connecting to an IQ actuator, the user must first log in. The Log In Page allows the user to select communication type, IrDA - serial connection, cell phone or "off line" for review of previously saved files. An interruption in IQ to PC communication will require the user to log in again.

Configuration The Configuration page allows the actuator settings to be downloaded for viewing, editing or saving to file. Previously saved configuration files can be viewed and if necessary loaded back to the IQ.
Manufacturing data such as IQ serial number, wiring diagram number and build date can be accessed and recorded. Information on electrical build and options is available for spares information. User Notes allows valve-actuator tag numbers, commissioning and service data to be loaded into the IQ for future reference.

Control Options The Control Options button commands IQ-Insight to interrogate the IQ for fitted options such as Folomatic analogue control or Pakscan, Rotork's own digital 2-wire control system. Once the interrogation is complete any fitted option are presented, allowing the user to open up the option's configuration page. Control Option allows the actuator option settings to be downloaded for viewing, editing or saving to file. Previously saved option configuration files can be viewed and if necessary loaded back to the IQ.

Datalogger This page allows access to the IQ on-board Datalogger. Valve torque profiles, last and average, along with statistical operation data can be analysed, saved and compared. Previously saved Datalogger torque and statistical logs can be reviewed.

Monitor Actuator Monitor Actuator allows the user to monitor the status of IQ control inputs, internal functions and indication outputs with torque and position read outs in real time. The historical event log, recorded in the on-board IQ Datalogger can be "replayed" in the Monitor page for incident and operation analysis. Saved datalogger event logs can be replayed for analysis. Historical events are date and time stamped.

Torque Profile Operation of the open and closed torque switches can be profiled to suit specific valve applications. For example, the torque switches may be required to allow more torque to be generated at end of travel than mid travel for better valve control or protection. Due to the complexity of Profile and associated contractual requirements, this feature is unavailable to Users. Rotork will be happy to discuss your application requirements and can, on agreement, load a specific torque profile into the actuator.

EEPROM The IQ non volatile memory, EEPROM, can be saved to file for future maintenance and analysis. Using this feature a complete record of the actuator build, calibration, configuration and set-up can be kept. Users have the ability to upload parts of saved EEPROM files to other actuators.

Virtual Setting Tool This page mimics the operation of the IQ Setting Tool. Clicking on the Setting Tool control buttons will transmit the relevant command to the IQ. The virtual display exactly mimics the IQ's display screen allowing the user to set and check actuator settings on screen.

Test. IQ display, indicating lamps and battery status can be tested. In addition the S contacts can be "forced", allowing control system status inputs to be verified irrespective of actual contact status.
